Keep your number. Miss nothing.
The number on your truck, your website and your customers' phones stays yours. You have two ways to put OfficePilot behind it, and you can use both.
Option 1 — Forward the calls you miss
Your phone rings exactly as it does today. When you don't pick up — you're under a sink, it's 9 pm, you're on another call — your carrier sends the call to your OfficePilot number. The caller hears your greeting, can leave a voicemail, and gets a text from your AI within seconds. Nothing changes for callers you answer yourself.
- In OfficePilot, open Phone numbers and note your OfficePilot number.
- From the phone that holds your business number, dial the forwarding code for your carrier (below), followed by your OfficePilot number.
- Call your business number from another phone and let it ring out. You should hear your OfficePilot greeting, and get the text-back.
*71 then your OfficePilot number (busy / no answer)
*73
*61* your OfficePilot number # (no answer)*67* your OfficePilot number # (busy)
##61###67#
**61* your OfficePilot number # (no answer)**67* your OfficePilot number # (busy)
##61###67#
Codes differ by plan and by prepaid vs. postpaid; if one doesn't take, your carrier's support line can switch on “conditional call forwarding” (busy and no-answer) to your OfficePilot number in a minute. Other carriers and VoIP lines: look for “forward when busy / unanswered” in your account settings.
Option 2 — Let OfficePilot ring you first
Put your OfficePilot number on your ads, your website or your Google listing, and tell it to ring your phone first: Settings → Field ops → Ring me first. You'll hear “Call for your business. Press 1 to accept.” Press 1 and you're talking to the customer. Don't, and they get your greeting, voicemail and the text-back — never a dead end, and never your personal voicemail.
Which should I use?
- Keeping a number everyone already has → Option 1. Set it once and forget it.
- A new line for ads or a second crew → Option 2. Every call is tracked, and you can pause “ring me first” outside business hours.
- Both is common: your old number forwards misses to OfficePilot; the OfficePilot number rings you during the day.
Want to move your number to OfficePilot entirely (porting)? Ask us — it takes a few days with your carrier, and forwarding covers you until then.
